North Downs : Day 6

Friday 23rd October 2009

Westwell to Canterbury - 19 miles

More sunshine for the final leg of the walk and thankfully so, the pains in my body had got to pretty uncomfortable levels and my legs were held together with tape, any distraction was a good thing.
115 miles . . . job done!

North Downs : Day 5

Thursday 22nd October 2009

Detling to Westwell - 13 miles

A short day and a chance to take it easy, the sun shone and the drag landscape of the previous days was replaced by picturesque countryside. The day was made even more complete by the fantastic pub at Westwell where I spent the evening and the terrific hospitality of the locals . . . a good day indeed.

North Downs : Day 4

Wednesday 21st October 2009

Wrotham to Detling - 23 miles

The longest day of walking and the worst weather of the walk so far, persistent rain and nearly 12 hours on the road - a day that really tested my resolve and one I was very glad to end. As with the previous day the scenery was for the most part uninspiring, the motorway bridge at Rochester being a particular highlight!

North Downs : Day 3

Tuesday 20th October 2009

Botley Hill to Wrotham - 17 miles

Another gloomy start to the day and the aches were starting to add up, but when I set up camp tonight I would be over half way.

North Downs : Day 2

Monday 19th October 2009

Ranmore common to Botley Hill - 21 miles

After my first night under canvas I was faced with a cold, damp, foggy morning and Box hill. Thankfully the day got better after that.

North Downs : Day 1

Sunday 18th October 2009

Farnham to Ranmore Common - 22 miles

Before I could even start the walk I had to get to Farnham, this consisted of to train journeys and a mile walk between train stations. I left Reading at about 7:30 am, approximately an hour after I left the Pub - a fine way to start indeed.
